Should I be worried about my 8 month old babys development?

My little guy turned 8 months almost a week ago. He talks but does not make any dada, mama, lala sounds in his noise making. (I watch a baby that is exactly- to the day two months younger then him- and she is doing all of those). He also does not clap or wave. He gets excited if you say yay or clap, or clap for him but doesn't try and do it himself. He also has no desire to wave, doesn't even attempt it. I keep looking up info online and it keep sending me to autism sites and what not. Now I am extremely worried, I work with him daily but all he seems interested in his standing and trying to walk. He can crawl (has been able to for over a month) and can pull himself up on things and walk along thing. I don't remember any of this with my older (almost 5 year old) son and just feel really anxious. Thanks in advance for your answers.

A:

I wouldn't worry to much yet. My son never really cooed and then didn't really "talk" until he was 2. My daughter was cooing and talking before she was a year. I was worried that my son was slow in development - he didn't crawl until almost 10 months. They told me some kids are just slower- He is now almost 6 and can read-

I would keep an eye on it- but not worry to much.
