Loss of appetite associated with teething?

My son is 8 months old and his first tooth just cut through his gums. He doesn't want to eat and he's only drinking about 16-18 ounces of formula daily. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I'm planning on calling his doctor in the morning, I just wanted to get some idea from the other moms out there.

A:

Don't be too concerned. Loss of appetite is a very normal thing to occur around teething time. Just coax him to and eat small amounts mashed up so it's easier on his gums.
Don't worry, you wouldn't be a good parent if you didn't worry!
