How long before baby first check-up?

A:

If you had a normal, uncomplicated vaginal birth, and the child was discharged within 24 hours, the first checkup with the family physician should be in 24 - 48 hours, preferably 24, as there is testing that needs to be done around 48 hours after birth.

If discharged 24-48 hours after birth, the first checkup should be within 48 hours to 7 days.

For csection, you will likely be in hospital for 3-5 days. As suck, you will want to schedule an appointment for 2-5 days after discharge.

With mine, I was discharged on a Wednesay, saw my family dr on Friday for my babies first checkup. Had to go back one week later, then 2 weeks after that. Again, the following 2 weeks, we were seen again, then finally monthly.
